History

City of London-trained corporate lawyer, James Hunt, launched Everyman Legal with a team of colleagues in July 2007. Our base of operations is a modern, accessible business park on the edge of the historic Oxfordshire market town of Witney (pictured on the left, as it was in the 1950s).

James has a passion for Britain’s industrial heritage. Having grown up in Birmingham, he draws particular inspiration from the life of Matthew Boulton and other members of the Lunar Society.

Witney was once famous for the manufacture of high quality blankets that were sold to North America and all over Europe by enterprising local families. Celebrated entrepreneurs of that age included Charles Early who in the late 1800s and early 1900s saw off the challenge of Yorkshire woollen mill owners.

Today, Witney and the surrounding area are home to companies in sectors as diverse as electronics, precision manufacturing, health care and information technology as well as construction and tourism. Many of these local companies need professional advisers with an international capability.
